Books Are Humanity in Print*

Ok, I've started a new movement.

I am totally and completely against this whole paperless thing. Yes, I love the trees. I even hug them from time to time. However, I do not want my sole reliance on getting information to come from the internet or the tv. Seriously, though, one day all this is going to crash. I mean, twitter and google crashed when Michael Jackson died. Think if something/someone bigger (I'm not sure what's/who's bigger then MJ) happens. I want my newspapers. I want my magazines. I want my books. I'm not willing to sit on the internet and just read read read until my eyes bleed. I usually end up printing out the information I find any way but I like something tangible. I like curling up in a chair with a blanket and reading a magazine or a book. And there is nothing like browsing the Sunday sales papers, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy even when I can't afford to buy a thing. Maybe it has something to do with clipping coupons when I was young with my mom. We always forgot to use the coupons but still.

Today I subscribed to two magazines to go with my one other subscription. But I urge everyone to pick up a magazine or a newspaper from time to time, if not daily. I don't want these to discontinue. I love my internet and my tv, don't get me wrong, but I don't want all information to come from electronic sources only. What are you going to do when the lights go out?

I have a love affair with words.  Seriously. I love love love words. I love the way people string together sentences. I love learning a new word. Being surrounded by books is comforting. I want a library in my house.

I am glad that I was finally able to finish cleaning my office. It's still a work in progress but at least I was able to go from this:

S7304116

to this:

office

However, its still blah to me. Needs more inspiration, more umph, more of a 'crawl off in here and get lost' spirit. I am hoping to get a laptop soon as I can remove the desk area for something more streamline because the focus/purpose of my office is to foster Creativity. I know, it's not looking very creative right now but just give me a few more months. Any suggestions?

Anywhoo, Subscribe to the newspaper or a magazine today!

Peace.

Wow

Another star gone? What up with that.

I'm sure everyone has heard by now about Steve McNair's passing. So tragic. I heard in on the radio on Saturday and I didn't believe it. They said, "Former Titan Steve McNair shot dead in Downtown Nashville." That's it. I thought it was a robbery or a mistake or something. I'm like, dang, there goes the fourth of July festivities. They are going to shut downtown down. But finally the news broke on TV saying that he was found shot dead in an apartment, along with a woman, also dead. I knew it was going to be a big drama and it is. Just wow. Go here if you want all the drama (I can't do the word links for some reason. I guess I have to have premium for that):

Girlfriend hoped to wed McNair: (http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090706/NEWS03/907060343/Girlfriend+had+hoped+to+wed+McNair)

Police wait to classify second death: (http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090706/NEWS03/907060344?GID=4TWFpgUgn42dQz4Xj060UZkMvAmk3svfloFxuoUGxPo%3D)

McNair memorial service planned for Thursday: (http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090706/SPORTS01/907060347)

Drama and Tragedy all in one, Dragedy. It's sad but part of me is like, dang Steve. SMH.  Why are were you messing around with a 20 year old girl with a wife and 4 boys at home? And they took trips to Hawaii and Vegas, he bought her a Escalade for her birthday, etc etc, all in just 6 months. 6 months! Wow. Just wow. Sorry, this is a big deal in Nashville (which I'm sure its a big deal for football lovers everywhere) because Steve McNair was like the iron man of the Titans. His restaurant is down the street from my job. It's closed now but I'm pretty sure it will open back up. I hope so because I still hadn't gotten a chance to eat there yet.

Rest In Peace, Steve McNair. 1973-2009

Oooooooo, check out the poster!! Reading the book has made me obsessed. But November, really?  That's a loooooong wait. Well, it'll give me time to finish, err, start the book. New Moon. Not Twilight. I'm halfway through Twilight. I want to read more but these pesky summer classes get in my way. Grrrrr. I will read lots this weekend.

I finished my paper for my Women and Poverty class. My 13 page paper. I hope my professor doesn't get bored and stop reading.  I had discuss my reform project and write a business plan. It doable and that's the main thing. Anyways, that class is over. Monday starts my second summer course, Psychology of Death & Dying. I hope it isn't too depressing.

HAVE A GREAT FOURTH!!

PEACE.

What's bothering you?

Question of the day:

depressed

Do people who suffer from chronic depression ever really know what is bothering them?

I've had my down days where all I do is cry and sulk and hide in my bed. Sometimes I knew why I was down but most of the time I couldn't explain why I was feeling the way I was. I know many people suffer from the occasional bout of depression when things aren't going right or someone close to them dies or these days, when the income and the bills don't match. But are those people just down in the dumps or suffering from depression. Just wondering. Your thoughts?

P.S. I planned on posting the Monday mouthful today but I plugged my camera into the computer and it wouldn't come one. Batteries were dead.  How do the batteries keep dying when I keep my camera in a case in my purse. I don't get it.

Peace.
