We took him trick or treating then dropped him off at his Aunt's. Her friend was having a Halloween party for the kids.

The flash on my camera went out so we don't have another picture of our full costumes. There were some outrageous costumes that night too and 5 points was packed. We went to two of the bars and couldn't even get in, there were SO MANY people. I wished my camera was working because the costumes were bananas. No, seriously, there were two bananas walking down the street at one point. We went downtown too and it was crazy as well. We didn't go to bed until 4am. Do you know how long its been since I stayed out until 4am?

Sunday my Aunt gave us her tickets to the Titans game.

I like to think that we bought the Titans good luck. They are now 1- 6! Yup, it was because we were there.

Now I want some season tickets! I loved going to the game.

TSU band performs at half-time at all the home games! Whoo-hoo TSU!!

I got absolutely nothing done this weekend. No washing, no cleaning, no writing. My house is a mess but I had A LOT of fun!

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) begins Sunday at midnight. For those that don't know, visit www.nanowrimo.org. Scribophile.com is actually have a contest for the best NaNoWriMo novel written and you can win $50.

But the thought of prizes aside, I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo this year. My whole quest to become a literary artist forces me to think outside my normal box to become skilled at the craft of writing. So for NaNoWriMo this year, I've given myself a few rules. Ah, there is nothing like a challenge. Ahem, my rules:

I will start a NEW novel on November 1st. From scratch, not from bits and pieces of other things I've scribbled down.
I will write outside of the genre I'm use to and try something new, perhaps Fantasy since that's all I've been reading lately.
To encourage discipline, I will write EVERY SINGLE DAY on this novel. Which will be hard because I'm working on another but I will put it aside, let it marinate if you will, and focus.

I guess that's enough self-imposed rules. I'm actually excited about this. I need a comfy chair because its going to be all about me and my computer for the next month. Or a pen and pad. I did a little manual writing last night while I was running a virus scan and it took me back. It took me back to a time before the personal computer. Back to the word processor. Yeah, I'm that old. I remember a time when only a few people had computers in their houses and those of us that did only used them for Number Munchers and Oregon Trail

Ok, so I was having a conversation with some people awhile back about the issue of abortion. (A recent Theologiancafe post reminded me of this as well).

There was this girl who got pregnant. She told the father, he told her to get an abortion. He didn't want kids and it wasn't his intention to get her pregnant. He begged her to get an abortion or give the baby up for adoption but she refused. He told her to never contact him again.

If she choses to have this baby against the fathers' wishes, does she have the right to demand paternity tests and child support from him?

The bigger question, where does the man's right to choose come in to play?

Just wondering your thoughts. Please comment.

We have a lot of carving to do. Tomorrow we are going to have a carving party. My friend from work is going to come help us and bring It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Can't wait.

Anyways, the pumpkins with the white stars where grown on the university farm, including the ginormous 98 pounder. Yes, that is a 98 pound pumpkin! I bought the ones with the black stars at Aldi's for $2.50 a piece! Right next door at Krogers, they were $5.48 a pumpkin!

We thought it was 60 pounds but I put it on the scale and I got 98 pounds for the biggest one and 10 pounds for the smallest one. Please don't ask what I'm going to do with all the seeds and inside. I haven't began to comprehend the mess that we will make tomorrow night.

Ok, H.D. Thoreau, whatever you say.

I spent most of my weekend (and beginning of the week) being sick. The kid came down with a 103 degree temp on Wednesday so we took him to the ER becaus 103 was scary high. They swabbed his nose and said that it wasn't the flu then told us that the flu test is only about 40% accurate. He had fever, vomiting, coughing and wheezing. Sounds like the flu to me. So he had to stay home the rest of the week (and this week is fall break. They get 6 days out of school. 6. We didn't have fall break when I was in school. I thought Fall break was Christmas break. Not fair. Moving on.)

So of course as I my throat started getting scratchy on Friday, I knew that I was going to be the one to catch his cold. Sure enough, by Saturday afternoon I was achy, coughy, sweaty and whiny. However, before that though my hubs took me to breakfast and to run some errands. It was Shoney's 50th anniversary so they had a parking lot full of classic cars.

I wonder if 50 years from now our cars will be lined up in the parking lot? They won't compare though. Those ^^ cars, that was true craftsmanship. Just look at them. I would love to drive the Black Chevolet today.

Friday night, against my better judgment, the kid went with his Aunt. She wanted him for the weekend but when she called and said she wanted to get his medicine because he wasn't feeling good again. We decided he needed to stay home. His temp was back up to 102. So he came in and climbed in his bed. Around that time was when my achiness was getting worse so I climbed into bed too.

I stayed here pretty much Saturday evening and all Sunday. Reading Eclipse and Sleeping. I actually had a slight temperature of about 100.8. Do you know how long its been since I had a temperature?

Of course Monday, I couldn't be expected to go to work. So I called in sick and I was honestly sick. I had to take the kid to his doctor's appointment (ER followup) though. She checked him up and he hadn't had a temperature since Satuday night so that was good. She said he had the flu though just based on his symptoms. She checked his lungs and said he was wheezy and congested so she gave him a breathing treatment.

He supposedly had asthma when he was younger but in the 5 years I've been around he hadn't had any medicine or an inhaler for it. She said it'd been 5 years since his last treatment so he didn't really have asthma just trouble with colds. Which I'm glad.

He didn't like the breathing treatment much but was wierdly excited about having to use an inhaler for the next five days. He told him his cousin had to always carry his inhaler. Luckily, we don't have to worry about that.

We were both feeling better after the appointment so we decided to make some cookies.

Three days late, I know but you have to try these cookies.

I got the recipe from (www.mybakingaddiction.com). She adapted it from allrecipes. These are some good cookies. They are huge and end up tasting more like little pumpkin cakes with cream cheese icing.

1 cup butter flavored shortening (I couldn't find any butter flavored; used regular)
1 cup unsalted butter; softened
2 cups white sugar
2 cups canned pumpkin (solid; not pie mix)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking soda
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

1. Cream shortening, butter, white sugar and pumpkin. Add eggs and mix well.

2. Sift together the baking soda, ground cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, salt and flour.

3. Add to pumpkin mixture and mix well.

4. Drop from spoon to cookie sheet. I used a 1/4 cup scoop to make big cookies. There is a lot of this dough. I fit 8 per cookie sheet so it took about 4 trays for all the cookies.

5. Bake 13-15 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Once the last tray was in the oven, I started on the icing.

Ingredients
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (extract will also work)
2 tablespoons milk

Mix the cream cheese with the butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, and milk in a bowl.

Heat in a microwave for 15 seconds.

Stir until smooth or the pain in you arm becomes unbearable. Seriously, it took much elbow grease to make this all nice, smooth and pretty. It was worth it though!

I let the kid decorate his own. This recipe made so many cookies that I sent half of them to work with my hubs that night. He works third shift and they appreciated late night sugar rush. I think I will make these again for our holiday pot luck at work. A little neater though.

Anywhoo, I over did it Monday trying to get up and do too much so I had to take another day off Tuesday. So back to the room and book.

Eclipse (the third book of the Twilight Series) ended better than I thought it would. I was still a little disappointed with her choice but I thought it ended up good, now I have to go buy Breaking Dawn today. Can't wait to see what happens next.

P.S. I finally finished New Moon! Off to buy Eclispe tomorrow. I have to say I was a little disappointed that Edward came back, I wanted Bella with Jcaob. Oops! Ignore if you haven't read the book - then again I'm late reading it so I'm sure you have.

I sat shuffling my feet, anxious, nervous, awaiting my turn behind the big door.

This is, of course, the step after death as I imagined it.

Was he Proud? Angry? Upset? Disappointed.

My eternal father.

I waited for what felt like forever, then the door opened.

It swung open wide and golden light floated out lighting everything with a sparkle.

My name was called.

I moved slowly, afraid of what I would see, how he would receive me.

But he smiled, a warm, accepting smile and he embraced me. He asked me to have a seat.

He wasn’t sitting in judgment but a father asking how was your day at the end of a busy one.

‘How was your life?’

He smiled as I exclaimed of all the beauty he’d allowed me to see then he asked,

‘Before I send you along, do you have any questions for me?’

I nodded because I did.

I had one question that bobbled around in my head for as long as I could remember.

A question that would have ended every war, a question that most are afraid to ask,

because they were taught

I fixed my mouth and I asked my father

‘Who was right and who was wrong?’

I love that things are looser. I have space where I've never had space before.

But what I'm waiting for is that day, that day where I go to put on my current favorite pair of jeans. I button them, zip them and they fall to the floor.

I've cut the following things out of my diet:

Beef (ground or otherwise)
Soda
White foods (white bread, white rice, white flour, white potatoes, etc.)
Caffeine (do you know how hard it is to find a beverage without caffeine? Sheesh)
Chocolate (yeah right, but I've seriously limited my chocolate intake)
Fried foods (If it isn't baked or grill, I don't eat it)

So far, so good. I feel better. I have more energy. I haven't had that over stuffed feeling in a while. I'm not as tired. My husband said that my skin is clearer because I stopped drinking sodas. Yeah, I was a diet Coke junkie. I've been drinking mostly flavored waters like Vitamin Water, Sobe Life Water and Aquafina Flavor Splash. I can't drink the many many packs of tea that my husband got me because it contains caffiene. I had no idea that all tea (except herbal) contained caffiene. Now I have to go get some herbal tea.

I turn 30 in December (Eeeek!! Did I just say that? OMG. ) And I'd like to live my 30's differently than my 20's. Thirty, Flirty and Thriving! More on that later.

Moving on...My hubs and I decided that we are going to dress up and go out for Halloween this year. (After I turn 30, it will be totally unacceptable to get dressed up and go out for Halloween considering I will be all old and stuff. Sike!) We figured out what we are going to be. I'll give you one hint...

Ok, that totally gave it away. Anyways, I'm still trying to put my look together. I know it will definitely includ a hooded cape, fangs and grey contacts. Hubs already got his shirt. It's very Panic at the Disco. Hee Hee. I'm trying to come up with the outfit. I'd like a corset top. Something like this:

Then I'd like to wear a long skirt because then I wouldn't have to worry about stockings. I'd love this skirt:

I'm still trying to decide on my hair. Should I get a wig or just style my own hair. I don't know but I'd like something like this if I do go with the wig idea.

Although current hairstyle would work too. Three weeks from now I'd probably have to touch it up a bit.

I don't want to be a cheesy vampire more of an alternative vampire. Any ideas?
